We checked 14 Eastbourne shops, from Brufords, trading since 1886, to the Enterprise Centre's makers, for opening hours and addresses. Updated November 2026.

Eastbourne has 14 independent shops worth a Christmas shopping trip in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening hours, addresses and what each one sells. Brufords on Cornfield Road, the Enterprise Centre by the station, Henry Paddon’s gallery in Little Chelsea and the Towner shop are the names most people land on. We checked every entry on 5 November 2026 against the shop’s own website, and say where we could not.

We have not shopped at any of these for this guide, and nothing here is a review. Each entry says what the shop says it sells, in its own words where we can quote them. Shops often change their hours close to Christmas, so check before a special trip.

Dates for the Christmas shopping diary

Until Sunday 8 November: Towner Christmas Fair. More than 50 makers fill the gallery on College Road. Free. Times and the rest of the season’s fairs are on our Eastbourne Christmas markets page.

Until Tuesday 1 December: the Enterprise Christmas Shopping Passport. The Enterprise Centre hands out a passport that earns a sticker for each purchase at a participating business. Six stickers, posted in the Christmas post box in the atrium by 1 December, enter a draw for a £100 voucher to spend in the centre.

Friday 27 November: Meads Magic, 2.30pm to 7.30pm on Meads Street. Saturday 28 November: the town centre lights switch-on and market, 9am to 7pm on Terminus Road, with the lights on at 6pm. Both are free; details are on our Christmas lights switch-on page.

Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November: Sussex Craft & Design Christmas Fair at the Enterprise Centre, 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Free entry. The centre describes it as handmade stocking fillers and gifts: textiles, jewellery, artwork and home accessories.

Late-night shopping at The Beacon: Thursdays 3, 10 and 17 December, 9am to 7pm, according to The Beacon’s centre information page. It also opens 9am to 5.30pm on Boxing Day and on Monday 28 December, and is closed on Christmas Day.

Friday 4 December: Christmas in Little Chelsea, 3.30pm to 8.30pm on Grove Road and South Street, with Father Christmas, a light show and fireworks at 8pm. Free.

Saturday 19 December: Christmas Farmers Market outside Towner. Visit Eastbourne gives the date but not yet the times.

Parking. Visit Eastbourne says parking charges do not apply on 25 and 26 December and 1 January. For the rest of December, the cheapest car parks and the free ones are on our parking in Eastbourne page.

Town centre and Little Chelsea

1. Brufords, Cornfield Road

Brufords calls itself “one of Eastbourne’s oldest independent businesses”. William Bruford bought an existing jeweller’s at 100 Terminus Road in July 1886; the shop was destroyed in a bombing raid in February 1943 and rebuilt, and in 1981 it moved to 11-13 Cornfield Road.

Today it sells watches from Rolex, Tudor, TAG Heuer, Longines and Seiko alongside diamond, gold, pearl and silver jewellery, and does repairs, ring resizing and valuations.

2. Barley Sugar, Cornfield Terrace

Barley Sugar describes itself as “a luxury food, fine wines & antiques shop”, and admits it is “an unusual shop to say the least”: upmarket food and drink on one side, decorative antiques and one-off vintage finds on the other. Its Visit Eastbourne listing mentions a cheese counter with around 100 cheeses and British and continental charcuterie.

Its own site now gives shorter hours than the Visit Eastbourne listing, so we use the shop’s.

It sits among the high street chains, which keep longer hours, with late nights on three December Thursdays.

How we chose

These are Eastbourne independents that publish their address and opening hours, on their own website or, for the Enterprise Centre’s shops, on the centre’s own page for each shop, checked on 5 November 2026. We favoured shops that sell things people buy as presents: jewellery, art and prints, food and drink, cards and gifts. We left out shops we could not confirm are trading: Maybugs on Terminus Road (its web address now shows an unrelated page), Little Chelsea Antiques Emporium (its owner announced it would close after Christmas), and Camilla’s Bookshop and The Vinyl Frontier on Grove Road, which have no website giving current hours. We will add them when we can check them. Hours often change in December, so check with the shop before a special trip.
